Ways of giving
Two sets of milestones, one meter each: what you give in a year, and everything you have ever given.
Every gift to NARA counts toward both sets of milestones, whatever fund you send it to. Give once, give monthly, give to the fund that matters to you — it all adds up the same way.
Members see their own two needles in the member portal, along with what the next milestone takes.
The Beacon Club
Amateur radio operators know the value of a beacon: a continuous, dependable signal you can count on. When you give to NARA, you become a beacon for our organization, helping us keep the signal strong and our mission moving forward.
The Beacon Club recognizes your charitable giving to NARA each calendar year. Your annual giving level is based on the total of your qualifying gifts during that year, and your Beacon Club giving total resets at the beginning of each new year.
But your generosity doesn’t disappear when the year ends. Every qualifying gift also counts toward your lifetime giving to NARA. As those gifts add up over the years, you can become eligible for membership in the NARA Founders Society, which recognizes members who have reached $5,000 or more in lifetime charitable giving.
Your annual signal may reset each year, but the impact of your support keeps adding up.
- S9 +30 — $5,000 or more in the year.
- S9 +20 — $2,500 or more in the year.
- S9 +10 — $1,000 or more in the year.
- S9 — $500 or more in the year.
- S7 — $250 or more in the year.
- S5 — $100 or more in the year.
Give monthly and you join as soon as twelve months of gifts cross the first milestone. A monthly gift is worth more to us than the same money once a year, and we would rather say so.
Founders Society
The NARA Founders Society recognizes members whose lifetime charitable giving to the National Amateur Radio Alliance reaches $5,000 or more.
Every qualifying gift you make to NARA counts toward your lifetime giving total, regardless of which NARA fund you choose to support. Your giving is cumulative and never resets, allowing your support over the years to build toward Founders Society recognition.
The Founders Society is reserved for charitable contributions made in support of NARA and its mission. Membership dues, merchandise purchases, and other purchases are not included in the lifetime giving total.
Once a member reaches $5,000 in lifetime giving, they are welcomed into the Founders Society in recognition of their lasting commitment to NARA and the future of amateur radio.
- Visionary — $250,000 or more, lifetime.
- Legacy — $100,000 or more, lifetime.
- Benefactor — $50,000 or more, lifetime.
- Patron — $25,000 or more, lifetime.
- Partner — $10,000 or more, lifetime.
- Pioneer — $5,000 or more, lifetime.
Donors who reach Pioneer may ask to be thanked by name on our public page. Nobody is listed without asking, and we never publish amounts.
What a donor gets
We want every donor to know that their generosity is appreciated, recorded, and recognized.
- An emailed receipt for every gift — a donation receipt is automatically sent to your email once your contribution has been processed, regardless of which NARA fund you choose to support.
- Progression badges in your member portal — earn digital badges as your giving reaches new recognition levels, creating a visible record of your continued support of NARA.
- Founders Society recognition — once your lifetime giving reaches the qualifying level, your giving page will reflect your Founders Society status.
- Optional public recognition — Founders Society members may choose to have their name listed publicly. We will never publish your name without your permission or display the amount you have given.
- Milestone certificate and donor card — receive a certificate and donor card recognizing the giving milestone you have achieved.
- Annual giving statement — at the end of each calendar year, receive an itemized statement of your qualifying contributions, including NARA’s charitable organization information for your records.
- Recognition at the National Convention — donors reaching designated giving milestones may be recognized during NARA’s annual meeting of the members.
- Giving progress in your member portal — track both your current year giving and lifetime giving totals, see your next recognition milestone, and follow your progress toward reaching it.
